Focus Stacking

Post by HaPeKa »

Hi there,

I tried the focus stacking feature, it works as it should, however, it did not work without some trial and error.

Here a stack of 15 shots:

And to see the depht of field one of the single shots:

What were the challenges:

1) it was very difficult to find out, what might be the best range for a given subject (book, watch, nature) and it depends on the lens. Not every lens interprets the range the same even at the same focal lenght.
2) there's a bug, as the setting far -> near stacks from near to far and the setting near -> far stacks from far to near.

Suggestion: Why not define a start point focus and an end point focus and shoot the given number of shots between these two settings? That would be much easier to use.

Thanks for the topic, atleast someone is talking about how to focus stack with benro polaris. i tried to take the shots but nothing seems to work (no focusing), would you mind sharing step by step how to do it, i own Sony alpha 9, am not sure shall we put the camera on auto focus or MF? also how to use the application and do we need to consider putting the camera on continus shooting , etc.

looking for your replay anxiously
