Hi,
I can almost get basic functionality (movement, path timelapses, etc) but can't solve the manual focus control from the app. This makes impossible to do focus stacking and changing focus or other parameters automatically.
Does anyone know if there is a configuration parameter or anything else that can be set so the manual focus control works?
My cam is a A7rII
Thanks a lot.
Manual focus does not work. Any clues?

Still trying to understand… no instruction anywhere ?

With my A7r3 manual focus DOES work. Tried with 16-35/2.8 GM and Sigma 150-600 DG DN Sport lenses. Both ok.
I put my lenses in manual mode (switch), camera in manual and camera setting to focus manual (that i’ve set to custom button C2).
Hope you’ve solved, too.

I just tested it out. Seems like this focusing AF/MF feature in the app only works if the lens itself has auto-focus feature. You have to set the lens to be AF for AF/MF feature in app to work. If you set your lens to be MF or have a MF lens, the app control for MF will not work.

I cannot get auto focus or manual. Focus to work on either my A1 or a7r5. Lens is in auto focus. It set to one shot auto focus but I do not have auto focus on the shutter release, although I have tried putting that on and still doesn’t work.
Any suggestions? I do have the latest firmware installed.

Just setting up my Polaris with an A1. I found that to get AF to work on in the Benro app, I had to set "AF w/Shutter" to ON in the camera's menu. I usually use back-button focus, and have AF turned off on the shutter button, but once I turned it on, AF worked in the app. Still haven't got MF working, but I haven't tried changing any settings on the camera yet.Cfargo wrote: ↑Mon Jul 17, 2023 3:36 pm I cannot get auto focus or manual. I got manual focusing working on the A1.
For a start, you need an Auto Focus capable lens. It needs to have AF motors in it in order to “manually” adjust the focus via the PC Remote function. It’s never going to work on a manual focus only lens - it can’t.
Then, you need to have the camera in MF mode, but if your lens has an AF/MF switch, it needs to be in AF. This is the most important setting. Basically, you’re telling the camera that the focus is being adjusted manually, but keeping the AF motors in the lens accessible for use.
The “AF w/shutter” setting doesn’t matter for AF control via the BP, it’ll work with it on or off. It does need to be on for AF via the app to work, though.
If your lens has a focus limiter, be aware of what it’s set to, as it might be limiting your focus range.
And that’s it: AF lens, camera set to MF, but lens set to AF (if it has a switch).
Oh, and the camera’s focus peaking won’t show up on the screen in the app to assist with manual focusing, nor will the image zoom in like you can set it to on the camera screen and EVF. But the BP app has its own focus peaking. You have to turn it on if you want it in the settings.
Tested successfully on the A1 and Sony 14mm 1.8 GM, Sony 16-35 2.8 GM, Sony 100mm 2.8 G Macro, Sony 200-600 G and the Tamron 28-200.
